Short answerGoogle Drive keeps original files and is free up to 15 GB, which makes it a good place to store wedding photos. It's awkward for collecting them: guests usually need a Google account with edit access to upload, everything lands in one folder of files, and you can't approve photos first. A QR gallery lets guests upload with no account, then you can still save the originals to Drive.

If you use Google Drive, set it up like this
- Create a folder called something like "Our wedding: guest photos".
- Click Share and decide who can add files. Upload needs edit access, which also lets people move or delete files, so share carefully.
- Check your free storage. Videos are large, and 15 GB is shared with Gmail and Photos.
- Turn the folder link into a QR code and test it on an iPhone without a Google account.
- After the wedding, remove edit access so nothing gets deleted by accident.
What Drive does well
- It's free and almost everyone has heard of it.
- Files keep their original quality.
- It's a great long-term home for the originals.
Where it gets awkward at a wedding
- The sign-in step. Guests without a Google account, or signed into the wrong one, get stuck.
- Edit access cuts both ways. Anyone who can upload can usually also delete.
- It doesn't feel like a wedding. Guests see file names, not a gallery to enjoy together.
